1. Reduce harmful gas emissions
The core function of the three-way catalytic converter is to purify the exhaust gas and convert three main pollutants into harmless substances through the REDOX reaction:
Carbon monoxide (CO) → Carbon dioxide (CO₂)
Hydrocarbons (HC) → Water (H₂O) and carbon dioxide (CO₂)
Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) → Nitrogen (N₂) and Oxygen (O₂)
This is essential for environmental protection, especially in regions where stringent emission regulations, such as Country VI, need to be met.
2. Optimize engine performance
The blockage of the old catalytic converter will lead to poor exhaust gas, resulting in power reduction, fuel consumption increase and other problems. Replacing the new catalytic converter can restore the smooth exhaust system and indirectly improve the engine efficiency.
In some cases it may improve throttle response (but not increase power directly).
3：Protect oxygen sensors and engines
A failed ternary catalyst can cause unburned fuel to enter the exhaust system, damage downstream oxygen sensors, and even affect the fuel correction strategy of the engine control unit (ECU). Joint failure can be avoided after replacement.
